This past week, our Young Child class started learning about percussion instruments.  In case you were wondering exactly what makes something a percussion it is an instrument that you shake or strike in order to produce sound.  This week in class all of our students will be bringing in their own homemade creations of a percussion instrument- including an original name!  Check out this link for some great homemade percussion instrument ideas!  You don’t have to have a child enrolled in our YC class to take advantage of some fantastic ways to create your own instruments at home!  Remember, children are EXPERIENTIAL LEARNERS- they learn best through using their senses, appealing to things your child enjoys and incorporating it into teaching them something, and seeing what developmental areas need to be worked on and catering to those as well.  No one said being a teaching parent was easy, but it’s SOOO worth it:)  Hope these ideas give you hours of fun and music!
