About Kindermusik

Kindermusik is the finest music and movement curricula for young children available, adhering to high standards of professional music education, nurturing the development of the whole child, viewing the parent as a vital partner in this work. By creating a comfortable setting in class for both parent and child, respectful of the development stage of each individual child, children and families explore, learn, grow, and contribute together.

Kindermusik is:

Child-centered – The individuality of each child is acknowledged and celebrated. Every child is allowed to flourish in his/her own way.
Developmentally Appropriate – With well-researched and piloted activities woven into each class, educators have comprehensive tools for understanding the interests, skills and appropriate learning methodologies for each stage of development. This encourages the development of the whole child. These activities are: 1)age appropriate – not just chronologically, but, more importantly, developmentally; 2) individually appropriate – acknowledging unique personalities, learning styles, and family backgrounds; 3) integrated through all domains: cognitive, physical, emotional, and social; 4) interactive – learning through interaction with materials, adults, other children, and their own environmental space; 5) varied – increasing in difficulty and complexity as children develop skills and understanding.
Concerned with the Whole Child – Carefully integrated selection and development of activities in every Kindermusik curriculum sets the stage for optimal learning experiences.
Process -, not Performance-oriented – Our process approach places more value on the experience itself. Kindermusik provides experiences for all developmental levels with no predetermined level of achievement demanded. Our goal is musical children rather than child musicians.
Fun for the Child and for the Families – Young children respond when something is fun and enjoyable, repeating a favorite book, activity, song, or musical game over and over again. This repetition creates opportunities to build and extend an activity, leading to mastery of skills and learning of concepts.
Inclusive of the Parents – Parents are the most important people in a young child’s life. Children learn the most from their parents and are most comfortable with their parents. At no other time in a child’s life do parents need affirmation, education, and community more than in these early years. Kindermusik is a community of adults and children, sharing and caring for each other. By reaching and teaching parents in class through shared observations and Kindermusik Foundations of Learning statements as well as through the use of At Home materials for each family, Kindermusik provides an opportunity for child and parent to grow and bond together.
Use of Quality Audio and Visual Learning Materials in Class and at Home – What is learned and experienced first is best remembered. By early and repeated exposure to the highest quality materials and experiences, the stage is set for both learning and enjoyment. With the integrative use of At Home materials, the class experience continues in the child’s most comfortable environment – at home with parents.
